Although he has enjoyed writing his entire life, A Patchwork Quilt is the first book published by Larry William Cavender. A retired English teacher, he is also a former radio broadcast journalist and play-by- play announcer and color commentator for local cable television sportscasts. Larry is a retired Technical Sergeant from the 116th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard. He is a graduate of Cherokee High School, attended Reinhardt University, West Georgia State University, North Georgia College and State University, and is an honor graduate of Kennesaw College and State University where he was named to Who’s Who in American Universities in both 1983 and 1984. Larry was also named the Cherokee County Business Person of the Year in 1981 and also received honorable mention for north Georgia Business Person of the Year that same year. He has one son, Joshua Cavender. In addition to writing, Larry enjoys traveling as well as studying history, especially World War II and Civil War history. He is also an avid fan of music of most all genres, and enjoys listening to music. He is currently employed part time as a writer and news reporter for the Pickens County Progress newspaper of Jasper, Georgia. A native son of Ball Ground who has lived within a few miles of the town throughout his lifetime, Larry still resides within four miles of his hometown.
