Joy Wilson McDaniel moved to Irwinville Farms in January 1935, which is the subject of her book, “Irwinville Farms Project: The Making of a Community.” She was there the entire time the government was in charge of the project — 15 years until she moved to Atlanta.
She was married to Dean McDaniel until his death. They have four sons. The majority of her life has been spent as a homemaker — a wife and a mother. The years she worked outside the home, she was a draftsman. She has spent the last 30 years doing genealogy research and beig a grandmother to her six grandsons.
She has written two family history books and co-authored two more that sold to people living in farawary places.
